I can’t get started with this unless I tell you upfront I am not a pundit. Other than off-handed digs at the President and all the awfulness he has visited upon us, i don’t spend my time or yours in that exercise when I put anything out there under my name.

I don’t know when it quite hit me, but it would have to be recent, because talk of impeachment is no longer a whisper, sucking all of us dry for too long. The powerful are jackals at heart and the taste of blood rockets to an orgy in no time, devouring anyone who is deemed a liability. The table has been set and the feasting has just begun and it won’t be pretty.

Donald’s demise was inevitable. He is so psychotically narcissistic that when his worst nightmare came true and he became President of the United States, he actually had the balls to think he is bigger than this epic adventure called America. I know this is going to sound terribly naive, but there is something about the idea of equality that I find thrilling. While I know it defies our basic nature, what a wonderful place to aspire to?

Brutality is a part of us, too and has been since the days of the cave. There is no need to look any further than the Hawaiian Islands. People just like Trump used the bible, the wallet and guns to poison those who were here long before them. Every Empire has met their demise, or else we wouldn’t be sitting on the rented throne as the current dominant society. We are clearly a dyslexic species, incapable of learning from our past, choosing the club over compassion every time.

Now, we have to travel to the land of punditry. Here it goes: I flashed on us having a mirror image of the Sixties, a kind of UnCivil War. If anyone in their right mind thinks Trump is going to go down easy, you’re nuts. It would take nothing to incite his people, because they are already well on their way. Tie dye will be replaced by camouflage and flowers with Glocks.

The idea for this country is like the most exquisite poem ever written. It has inspired greatness in so many. Freedom has no equal, it is everything. So many other countries have been inspired by this possibility. Our fallability as humans has dogged us forever and dreams are nearly impossible to achieve, but that’s never an excuse to stop trying..

Our Union needs to be preserved and it is coming apart. I think Mr. Trump has done all of us a great service. We have suddenly woken up to see our awful future, standing on the bow of the Titanic, staring into the darkness of greed that will kill us all. We have a choice to make and I believe his impeachment will force the issue. In the Sixties, the military was called in to enforce the law against protestors. We will soon be called upon to put an end to the divisions in our country, exaggerated by encouraging hateful speech and actions.

We have allowed this dream to become a nightmare and the time to wake up is soon upon us, like it or not. The government Lincoln had in mind will have to quell the coming insurrection by supporters of a deposed tyrant. This might actually be our last opportunity to set this country and the rest of the world on a much more humane path.

I have my music blasting as I write this. When I got up to walk away from the screen, I froze as Pavorotti’s voice of the Gods flooded all my senses. it could only be a miracle that allows the voice of heaven to be heard by us mortals. It sings of the incredible ability we have within us. I believe there are a huge number of people, who want more for our country. We could be the Pavorotti’s of the earth, inspiring others with possibility.
